NW Rockies or bust

July 18 2019 -  After leaving our Boon Dockers Welcome host,  we headed deep into central Colorado.   We knew we did not want to camp at 10,000 ft again if possible while our bodies are still acclimating to the higher altitudes.    After several hours on the road we found a National Forest campground called Willows Campground off of Hwy 9 near Heeney, CO.  The campground is situated on Green Mountain Reservoir and we camped on the waters edge.  As soon as we finished setting up camp, we inflated our kayak and got out on the lake.  The views with mountains in the background were awesome.   Mosquitos were a minor problem,  although we greatly enjoyed the location.

June 19, 2019 -  After driving up Hwy 230, our next campsite was in Saratoga, WY at the Saratoga Lake Campground.   The campground provided electric only,  but had lots of sites.   We were able to get potable water at City Hall and dump our grey and black tanks at the sewer plant.   At Saratoga we bathed in the natural hot springs at Saratoga Hobo Hot springs.  In addition to the various hot pools,  the hot springs also ran out to the North Platte River, which made it fun to lay in the river with the improvised rock dams retaining some of the hot water with cold snow melt river water mixing randomly as well.  We found the local IGA grocery story quite interesting with perhaps 40+ deer, moose, bear, etc. trophies on the walls throughout the grocery store including a large grizzly bear in the full upright position behind a glass case.    We enjoyed biking into town and walking thru the shops of Saratoga...we even shared the sidewalks with wild deer (buck in velvet).   On Sunday before departing, we attended the Saratoga Alliance Church and enjoyed the message that Pastor Phil provided...it was a warm and welcoming church.
